Teaching students the lifelong rewards of martial arts training within a diverse and welcoming community. Our goal is to provide the finest instruction in traditional martial arts using modern learning theory and techniques. TKA strives to help students develop strength, flexibility, coordination, and physical fitness.

You can start by checking out one of our classes where you can see students in action and meet one of our instructors! TKA teaches my children the rewards of applying yourself with dedication and confidence, all while providing an outlet for their never-ending stream of energy. The kids love their instructors and literally count down days until class.

About
Report
For over 50 years, students at Tompkins Karate Association have traveled into the Blue Ridge Mountains for a week of community, traditions, competition, fun and hard work. It's a week many of us look forward to all year long! While our TKA family is unable to safely join together in person in the mountains this year, we couldn't bear the thought of skipping TKA Karate Camp 2020.
Classes for Kids
Report
TKA is known for our excellent children's martial arts program. We've been teaching and evolving it for over 50 years and are widely regarded as one of the first martial arts programs accessible to kids. Kids learn discipline, respect, how to set and achieve goals, and have fun doing it all at a low price.
Training for Adults
Report
In addition to our children's martial arts classes, we offer a complete adult program as well. Adults come to us with a variety of goals in mind and whether yours are to earn a black belt in martial arts, learn self defense or simply to get active in a welcoming community - We have something for you!
Advanced Training
Report
No matter how long you've been training in the martial arts, there is always more to learn. No matter how many times you've practiced a technique, there is always opportunity for improvement. In addition to working towards advanced levels of black belt (2nd degree, 3rd degree, etc), we offer many avenues for further development as a martial artist.
