I always prefer to be as physically close to items I am inspecting as possible, and get my hands on anything I can in order to best evaluate the conditions. However, this is not always possible. I use a professional drone to mitigate safety risks and to allow me to make a complete visual inspection of otherwise inaccessible areas.
