Shotokan Karate Center Coral Springs JKA is a nonprofit Shotokan karate dojo for adults and kids of all ages and abilities. We are a classical Japanese JKA karate school based out of Coral Springs, Florida, proudly serving the Coral Springs and Parkland neighborhoods and surrounding communities of Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach, Coconut Creek, Pompano Beach, Weston, Davie and Fort Lauderdale for over 20 years.
My son went for his first lesson and really enjoyed it. The instructors are patient and really care about their students learning the proper techniques. I am excited for him to continue to learn Shotokan Karate here!

In 1966, Master Takashina graduated from Ryukoku University in Kyoto, Japan, and then was accepted into the elite and rigorous JKA Instructor School, graduating in 1968. He then moved from Japan to Florida in 1972 and began teaching JKA-style Shotokan Karate to the public, first from the University of Miami, and then since 1997 from the main Coral Springs dojo.

Simply put, Shotokan Karate is a martial art with a repertoire of stances, blocks, and strikes that, when performed in a class environment, provide a great workout for Karateka (people who study karate). Founded by Gichin Funakoshi, Shotokan is the quintessential Japanese martial art and is studied around the world under several organizations.
