St. Michael's Episcopal Day School
At St. Michael's Episcopal Day School, we encourage the growth and development of our students through project-based learning, an emergent curriculum, utilization of loose parts, and offering opportunities for messy play. We are heavily influenced by the Reggio Emilia Philosophy of learning, which calls for an emergent curriculum that is largely executed through project-based learning.

In our classrooms, children engage in thought-provoking, challenging play every day. This play naturally leads to experimentation with math, physics, language, and art. A child's natural sense of curiosity about the world around them offers the adults in their presence vast opportunities to help the child discover and apply concepts from every discipline.
Services
Admissions
Report
Enrollment applications are available beginning each February for the following September's class. Parents will be reminded of the exact dates through the Directory and the Newsletter. A non-refundable fee of $100.00 (made payable to St. Michael's Episcopal Day School) is required with the registration of each child in the program.
Home Visit
Report
St. Michael's Episcopal Day School performs a home visit for every new child who enrolls in our school. For parents and children, a home visit gives them the opportunity to meet the teacher(s) in a safe environment, where they feel confident and at ease. Children can find a new school frightening. A home visit enables a first meeting between child and teacher in an environment that is safe, and where the child feels in control.
Team of Educators
Report
Ms. Rebecca is entering her sixth year as the Director at St. Michael's Episcopal Day School, and comes to our community with 15 years of experience in the field of early childhood education.

She has previously held the positions of Center Director for Clif Bar's onsite child development center "Base Camp, " Program Specialist for Stanford University's Child Development Centers in Palo Alto, CA, New Center Development Manager with Children's Creative Learning Centers, and Site Supervisor with Stepping Stone School here in Austin.
Our Facility
Report
In addition to our classrooms, our preschool facility offers an atelier (art studio), an organic garden, a library, a dramatic play room, a music room, a tinker lab, nature trails, multiple nature playgrounds, a mud kitchen, and a discovery deck. The preschools of Reggio Emilia, Italy have designated art spaces called ateliers with an atelierista, a "teacher" with an arts background, as does our Reggio-inspired school.
Toddlers Ducklings
Report
St. Michael's Episcopal Day School's Toddler program has an established curriculum that is similar in structure to that of our other preschool classes. Because our toddlers are overwhelmingly first-year school-attendees, we emphasize a flexible approach to seperation that is based on the individual needs of each child.
