Why Hire A GLC Inspector
Report
Home inspectors that choose to join the Great Lakes Chapter demonstrate a willingness to reach for higher standards than the average home inspector. What makes this so? Let's first take a brief look at the membership requirements set forth by the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). ASHI membership is not something that can be obtained simply by writing a check to the organization.
Selecting An Inspector
Report
Home inspectors are not licensed in some states, but some have engineering, architectural or contractor backgrounds. Membership in ASHI is a plus, as they attend continuing education on a regular basis. Ask what standards of practice they follow. A good inspector covers all of the major mechanical and structural systems, from top to bottom.
Code of Ethics
Report
The American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) is a not-for-profit professional society established in 1976. Membership in ASHI is voluntary and its members include private, fee-paid home inspectors. ASHI's objectives include promotion of excellence within the profession and continual improvement of its members' inspection services to the public.
What is a home inspection
Report
In simplest terms, a professional home inspection performed by a Great Lakes Chapter (GLC) Inspector is a general visual inspection and observance of the house from the roof to the foundation, and many places in between. When trouble signs are recognized, a GLC inspector will share knowledge and information they possess about the trouble spot.
What’s Inspected
Report
While on the surface this appears to be a relatively simple question, the full answer would be quite voluminous. Great Lakes Chapter (GLC) home inspectors perform their inspections in strict accordance with the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) Standards of Practice.
