
Kids Programs are led by a team of IKO Certified Black Belt Instructors. The class size is purposely small to allow for detailed instruction and personal attention. Weekly "Team Training" sessions are scheduled to prepare team members for excellence on the IKO Tournament Circuit, which includes the All American Open International.

KYOKUSHIN, in Japanese means "Ultimate Truth". The name was selected by our founder, Masutatsu (Mas) Oyama to describe the pinnacle of martial arts training. Not an end result, but a neverending path to the point where dedication, perseverance and sweat meets strength, humility and wisdom. Masutatsu ('Mas') Oyama was the founder of the KYOKUSHIN system of martial arts.

For high-ranking Black Belts and members with plans to open an affiliate Dojo, the IKO Kyokushinkaikan offers training opportunities to advance their technical and professorial skills at the annual, IKO Instructors Training Intensive Course held at the IKO Kyokushinkaikan World Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan.The teachings of KYOKUSHIN Founder, Sosai Masutatsu (Mas) Oyama were not only physical, but spiritual and philosophical.

For KKNY members with serious competitive pursuits, a strong commitment to Team KKNY is m andatory. Weekly "Team Training" sessions are scheduled to develop camaraderie and prepare team members for excellence at our bi-annual Goodwill Tournament to benefit local charity, and on the IKO Tournament Circuit, which includes the All American Open International Karate Championships, held annually in NYC.

KKNY members range in age from youth to senior citizens, and everyone in between. Men & Women, Girls & Boys, amateur and pro athletes, weekend warriors, business people, entrepreneurs, students, people with physical limitations and intellectual disabilites everyone at KKNY treats each other with respect, and trains together in the same manner, each working to achieve our personal best.

Training begins with a light warm-up then moves quickly into basic kicks, punches and block practice and footwork, to be able to execute these techniques with fluidity and balance. Basic strengthening and fitness exercises, such as push-ups, jumping, running, sit-ups, are employed to condition the body.
