I was born and raised in West Texas. My parents are cotton and wheat farmers, and I grew up working every summer on the farms. I went on to study biology and play basketball at Abilene Christian University, where I met my wife Bonnie. She is a speech language pathologist. I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, TX.
