Erick loves living in Portland with his wife and three kids. He navigated the immigration maze firsthand after persuading his Hungarian wife to move to the U.S. He founded Passage Immigration Law to help others reach their immigration goals with confidence. Lexi grew up in Eastern Washington and attended Willamette University College of Law.

From the very beginning, Passage Immigration was intended to be a different kind of law firm. Our founder's wife is from Hungary and when they were married in 2001, Erick handled all of the necessary immigration paperwork to secure her green card. It was a surprisingly convoluted, exasperating experience.
Family-Based Immigration

There are three main ways to immigrate to the U.S. - through a business, through a humanitarian program, or through a family member. The U.S. immigration system currently is designed to favor keeping close family members together. Therefore, immigrating through a relative often is faster or more efficient than the humanitarian or business options.
Employment-Based Immigration

You can receive a green card through employment. Most commonly, U.S. employers can file a petition for its workers to receive a green card. The principal worker and immediate family members can become permanent residents of the U.S. if the necessary steps are followed. In addition, sometimes you can file a petition for yourself, if you or your work are extraordinary or you have substantial funds to invest in a U.S. business.
