Universal Community Health Center
UCHC is a Federally Qualified Health Center, meeting a stringent set of requirements, including providing care on a sliding fee scale and operating under a governing board that includes patients. The HRSA Quality Improvement Awards recognize the highest performing health centers nationwide as well as those health centers that have made significant quality improvement gains.

Under the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA), health centers are considered Federal employees and are immune from lawsuits, with the Federal government acting as their primary insurer. This health center is a Health Center Program grantee under 42 U.S.C. 254b, and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(n).

Insurance Enrollment

Our Enrollment Counselors provide free assistance and are experts in all health plans/programs. Demetrio and Nelda guide patients through the health insurance maze. Both are certified to enroll patients in Covered California and are experts in all health plans including Medi-Cal, Medicare and all private health plans offered in LA.
Sliding Fee Program

All patients are eligible for our sliding fee scale program, meaning the services we provide may be discounted based on your household income and family size. See chart below. How Sliding Fee Scale Works: If your household has 3 members (wife, husband, child) and combined your household makes $23,000 total, based on the below chart you will qualify for Tier A.
Referrals

The Referral Center team strives to seamlessly transition patients from UCHC to leading experts in multiple specialties for appropriate medical treatments. We also provide a convenient process for physicians and health care professionals to transfer patients to UCHC.

Our transfer process engages our registered nurse intake coordinators, physicians and insurance counselors to ensure an expedited response to all transfer requests, while limiting financial liabilities to patients and families.
Quincy Jones Elementary School
Report
Universal Community Health Center is now partnering with Quincy Jones Elementary to provide on-site health services. Our goal: ensure all health needs and health-related barriers to learning are addressed and managed. Services are open to all residents of the community, not just the students.

Use of the school premises has been granted pursuant to the provisions of Sections 17400, et seq., of the Education Code of the State of California to (Universal Community Health Center) from the Board of Education of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
