I don't know everyone on those therapist listings, so I cannot recommend a specific therapist or listing. Talk to any potential therapist and make sure they are a good fit for you. Therapy offers a safe environment where you can heal from stressful situations, traumatic events, grief, anxiety, and addiction.

Therapy can help if you are feeling stuck, struggling with a past or current issue, or having trouble reaching your goals. As a therapist, I am dedicated to helping people make the changes that they want in their lives and supporting people as they heal and grow. Healing from abuse, neglect, and other traumatic events: Unresolved trauma gets in the way of truly living life and doing all that you want to do.

About Me
Report
I have a B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Illinois (1993), where I specialized in water flow and environmental engineering. Before I graduated, I started volunteering at a date rape education program and a domestic violence shelter. I also saw a therapist when I was in college. Due to those experiences, I decided to become a therapist.
Approaches
Report
There are many different ways to heal and grow. As you look for a therapist, it is important to find someone whose approach matches your own way of changing and growing. My approach is practical, collaborative, and interactive. While I am a good listener, I am also very active in sessions. I tend to emphasize strengths and solutions.
Emdr
Report
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an approach that can help people resolve traumatic memories, anxiety, PTSD, grief, loss, and other difficult issues. EMDR seems like a very simple technique; however, it can have profound results. There are MRI studies that show how EMDR therapy creates changes in the brain, as people resolve traumatic issues.
Fees
Report
I offer a free phone consultation, so that you can ask any questions you have and decide if we are a good fit. Once a week: I normally meet with people at the same time and on the same day each week (for example, 4:00pm on Thursdays every week). Of course, it's okay if people need to miss a week due to illness or vacation.
