Services
Our Team
Report
Dr. Jones is the owner of Schmitt's Animal Hospital. What she loves most about her job is enjoying the human-animal bond and working with a great staff. Outside of work she enjoys kayaking, photography, and fresh water aquariums - fish and shrimp. Her four-legged family includes the larger dog - Kara; the little dogs - Forrest and Karmal; and the cats: Suu Kyi, Orangey, and Tiger Lily.
Preventive Care
Report
One of our main focuses at Schmitt's Animal Hospital is preventative care. The goal is to prevent major illnesses and diseases before it becomes necessary to treat them. This is accomplished through annual exams for adult pets and semi-annual exams for senior pets. We recognize that some pet owners may be hesitant to bring a pet that seems perfectly healthy in for a visit.
Senior Care
Report
As your pet ages, they need more advanced care and attention. Our hospital recommends twice yearly senior exams. A lot can change with their health in a short amount of time. We consider seniors to be dogs aged 7+ and cats aged 9+. The doctor will assess their weight and body condition and examine them from nose to tail.
Heartworms and Prevention
Report
Treating heartworm disease in dogs can be costly and time consuming, and any damage caused may be permanent. There is no approved heartworm treatment for cats, yet just one adult heartworm can be enough to result in death. Fortunately, heartworm disease is easy to prevent. Here at Schmitt's Animal Hospital we recommend annual heartworm testing for dogs along with a monthly heartworm preventative year-round.
Surgery
Report
Our hospital is equipped with a fully operational surgery suite. All of our doctors perform a variety of surgical procedures including: spay, neuter, declaw, growth removal, C-section, abdominal exploratory, spleen removal, bladder surgery, amputations, and minor orthopedic surgery. Most surgery patients can be dropped off the morning of surgery and picked up later that afternoon.
