Maui's history as told by the Kahunas begins with the demigod Maui who pulled the Hawaiian Islands out of the sea and closer to the sun. Standing on the brink of Haleakala, Maui drew the islands closer to sun for more daylight so he and his people could have more time to fish. Regardless of how you choose to spend it, you're on Maui time now.

To begin, I thought I'd share a part of my history so you can get a sense of the person behind the hands. I was born and raised just outside a small farming town in the central valley of California.
