For years Julie piper was a dedicated employee of the restaurant and eventually acquired the business. In 1970, Steve Piper began managing our restaurant, where he has worked ever since.

The food has gotten very expensive at Buddy's. The calzone crust was burned and hard as a rock on the bottom. I did not send it back because it takes about 25 minutes to order one. I ate part of thentop and the salad. The food has always been good and this was the first time I have ever had a bad meal there. Also, this was the first time I have ever had rude servers at Buddy's. I have been eating at Buddy's since 1988. I hope this was just a bad day for the restaurant, but something seems to have changed rather dramatically there.

3 stars is generous. More like 2.5 stars. I initially wanted to go with 2 stars, but my son is a better person than I am and convinced me 3 was the way to go since he was there too.
I had the spaghetti with meatball. Yes. One meatball. Nothing earth-shatteringly fabulous. The meatball lacked any kind of spice and had to be cut with a fork because of the outer consistency. I wanted to order the garlic cheese bread but frankly balked at the extra price for the cheese. The plain bread I got was...bread.
The chicken with spaghetti was about the same. The chicken was on the dry side and the sauce

I had someone recomend Buddys and they are always busy so I ordered the homemade ravioli and the spaghetti. I did a takeout order. The ravioli tasted like fish and was soggy. And the sauce separated into a watery mess. I figured it might have just been an off day or I waited too long to pick up my food. I tried them again and got a cheese pizza and garlic bread. The garlic bread was ok but the pizza was doughy in the middle. Maybe I just got doubly bad luck but they aren't a place I'd recomend for a consistently good meal.

My family really loves their garlic salads. I hope they never close down in my lifetime anyway. The food is pretty good and probably the best Italian in town. However, they really don't have much competition.

I can't for the life of me figure out why people rave about this place. I've been here twice. Both times have been disappointing. The portions are large but the food is lackluster. I was told I have to try the garlic salad. It's basically a salad drenched in dressing. The flavor is okay, but the lettuce lacks any crunch from the overkill of dressing. My niece who loves all fettuccine alfredo said that the frozen one you get at the store tasted better than theirs. I had to agree, the sauce taste like it comes from a jar. Came here again on a date hoping that the experience the first time was a one

On all of the lists of places to visit, this place was always highly rated. The line out the door is a definite indicator of quality. The salad dressing is not over-hyped and the quality of food was excellent. Sauces are flavorful and the locally-baked Italian bread was fantastic. Makes me wish we had something like this in Salt Lake City. Will definitely be counting down to the next time I get to have some Buddy's.

This place is the quintessential neighborhood Italian restaurant, nothing fancy, just good food at reasonable prices. I had the rigatoni with meatballs. My wife had the minestrone which she really liked. After sampling it, I did as well. The sauce on my pasta had the right consistency of tomato, cheese and garlic. The meatballs have a great texture and have a subtle deliciousness. Our waitress was very cheerful and friendly which goes a long way with me. When most of the multi-generational family owned Italian restaurants are dying out, Buddy's is alive and well. We plan on returning next

Not sure how it got such high ratings. Food was okay, but not 4.5 star worthy, in my opinion. If you are looking for an Italian meal with authenticity and attention to choosing high quality ingredients, I recommend you skip this restaurant. For example, the garlic cheese bread is made with the buns and sliced cheese they use for sandwiches. Tastes good, but not authentic Italian. Nothing wrong with Buddy's, just know what to expect when you go. We went for the lasagna and because it was rated 4.5 stars. The lasagna was sold out, so maybe that is their fabulous dish. Idk.

The sauce and meatballs were to die for. I could have licked the plate. The garlic bread was great too. Service was prompt and friendly. The price is not the lowest but the quality of the food makes it worth it.
If I lived in Pocatello I would be there once a week trying a new menu item.

We love to come to this awesome restaurant every time I come through town or are anywhere within 60miles.. Super amazing food and awesome waitstaff. The owner is sooo nice and took a picture with us so that we could make my wife's mom jealous that we came here. This place is certainly worth at least 5 stars, being in business for over 60 years, you know that they do things right. The world famous buddy's salad is huge and delicious and even great as a leftover dish the next day. The Double Italian Sausage with Everything sandwich is world class too. I saw the picture of the supreme

This place is the king of great hole in the wall food. I'm so glad that my husband went to ISU and introduced me to Buddy's. The house salad dressing is THE BEST HOUSE DRESSING ever, garlic and blue cheese yumminess. The pasta is cooked perfectly, I had it sautéed in the house dressing, an upgraded aglio e olio if you will. Hubby can't get past the meatball sandwich. It's not fancy, it's just really good. Service is always friendly also.

Just moved here and decided for something new to try. We thought we'd try two plain cheese pizzas from Buddy's. They did bring them to me in a timely manner when I picked them up, however, upon opening them at home, they were over cooked yet still middle doughy. The flavors are there, but the way the dough isn't rolled from the over cook and under cooking (which seams like a feat in itself) made serving dinner disappointing. We won't be doing pizza from them again.

˜️Great good and a
The staff was amazing. ☀️
This restaurant has been around for a really long time and I’m sure it’s because the food is delicious.
The only thing I’d suggest is the bathrooms need an update.

Place had a lot of local rave. In town for a baseball tournament and we weren't that impressed. Place was packed out though so that's always good to see right now. I felt it was overpriced, small portions and between pizza, Alfredo and meat sauce, the three of us left just "meh." $55 after tip. Bread was refrigerator cold. Didn't get that. Service was solid.

I was starving and got the dinner size portion. Whoa, nelly! The garlicky salad is awesome, the meatballs were good sized and the marinara sauce was full of flavor. Came with antipasti and bread. I loved the little dish of spumoni ice cream at the end of the meal, also! Great service. The owner was there while I was eating and he asked how my meal was- it’s those little things that really matter, you know? Especially when you are eating alone.

Might be the worst food I have ever had eating out. The salad was drenched in dressing. The best part of the meal was my coke on ice. Alfredo had no flavor. Marinara was awful and even the cheese garlic toast did nothing for me. I left hungry. I feel bad giving this review but it was bad.

Vintage style family restaurant! Italian food taste of the old world. We arrived late but were served a tasty meal. Gravy was delicious as was the salad dressing. The sausage sandwich was also very good.

We left with BUDDY BREATH and I am happy about it. My mom suggested this place to us. We were in town for a softball tournament. I will say that compared to Salt Lake, Idaho is very relaxed on Covid Safety measures. There was no social distancing inside the restaurant. Servers did not wear masks or gloves. We were very surprised. The salad was my favorite and meatballs my least favorite. The staff was very friendly. If I am ever back in town I would stop here again. Check out our pictures to see what we ordered.

Alas Buddy you lost you magic! What a sad disappointment tonight. Came on a Monday just for Lasagne to learn that they always run out at lunch and rarely have any left for dinner--- what's the problem not in having a Monday special???? Had clams... or tried. Half didn't open. Waitress offered to replace but kitchen reset same clams back. Was so damn obvious... just tell us you don't care about food poisoning next time!!!!!!

Rigitoni was tepid. Waitress forgot to bring salad. And the pizza and calazones had doggy crusts. Staff was courteous but slow.

People at work were asking me to come try this place when I travel out of town.

Yikes, they were so wrong. Maybe this place was good years ago, but currently the food is abysmal. First of all I did my own Gordon Ramsey testing. The meatball was absolutely not fresh or any good for that matter. The texture is all smooth inside like astronaut paste. How do you not make a homemade meatball??? And if you do why does it taste like soap ????

Second the pizza was just not good. Not even close to anything resembling s fresh pizza. The salad had way to much dressing and the iced tea tasted like
