Kinetic Massage Works was established in 2009 with a goal of helping people who want to help themselves. We are oriented toward pain relief and treating the underlying conditions rather than merely treating symptoms. The journey began when the owner, while still in massage school, mentioned to the instructor that she had a 'stepping on hot razor blades' pain in the morning.
About Micaela

Micaela has been massaging since she was 4, and her father had migraines. She would walk on his back and work on his shoulders. In 2007, she graduated from Avalon School of Massage and worked for chiropractors before opening Kinetic Massage Works. An expert in deep tissue, sports, myofascial release, and structural reintegration therapies, Micaela also offers prenatal massage and plantar fasciitis treatments.

No two bodies are the same, and even your body will not be the same from day to day and from massage to massage. Some days you will be able to tolerate more pressure and other days you won't. Every time we have a session the therapist will ask you about where your discomfort is how much pressure you'd like for this session.

Deep tissue massage is the most often misunderstood aspect of massage therapy. Deep tissue isn't only the amount of pressure the therapist uses during the session--it's a little of that of course--but it refers to the advanced training a top-notch therapist has in reaching through the superficial muscles and treating the muscles lying underneath.
Trigger Point Massage

A trigger point is a spasm within a muscle that can cause pain elsewhere in the body. For example, a point in the back may trigger referred pain in the neck. The neck may then cause pain in the head. The pain can range from a dull throb to sharp intense bursts of pain radiating through the spine. Trigger point massage therapies are implemented to relax the source of the spasm through cycles of pressure and release.
