Our offices are open for in-person consultations as well as phone and video consultations. Please don't hesitate to call us if you have any questions! In today's society where women seek equal opportunities in the workplace and where both mothers and fathers pursue careers, a "stay-at-home" wife and mother is a less common occurrence.

Along with this, fathers are playing an increased role in the home environment, including spending time with children and being more active in raising them. In the face of all of this, shouldn't fathers have rights too? At The Fathers' Rights Association of New York State we believe that no greater vocation can be had by a woman or man than to be a parent.

About Us
Report
The Fathers' Rights Association of New York State, Inc. (F.R.A.N.Y.S.) is a charitable not-for-profit all volunteer educational organization that seeks, through equal parenting rights, to ensure that children maintain a continuing, nurturing relationship with both parents after divorce or separation.
Spousal Maintenance/Alimony
Report
Maintenance, also called alimony in some other states, is a specified amount of money to be paid to an ex-spouse in the case of a divorce or the execution of a separation agreement. In New York, maintenance may be awarded for a fixed or indefinite period of time. In any event, maintenance would be terminated upon the death of either party or if the dependant spouse remarries.
Child Custody & Visitation
Report
Child custody is probably the most important and the most difficult issue that a father will face in the event of a divorce or separation agreement. In the past, fathers' rights were nonexistent and mothers generally got full custody of children, even in cases where the father could have provided a safer and more loving home environment.
Child Support
Report
If you are a father currently facing a divorce or separation agreement in Long Island, New York, we recommend that you retain the services of a skilled family law attorney to protect your rights as a father. Child support is an issue that will arise if you have any children. Along with child support, child custody and visitation will need to be determined.
Modification of Support
Report
After child support has been determined by the courts after a divorce or separation agreement in Long Island, New York, it is possible to modify the agreement to accommodate a new situation or change in situation of the parents or child/children. A standard modification of child support must be done in order for you to alter the amount you are paying or receiving.
