Our pediatric dental team is committed to caring for your child's smile for many years. We love to watch our patients' smiles grow from little to big, whether we're teaching a toddler how to brush her baby teeth or fitting a little leaguer for his first athletic mouthguard. We encourage kids to get interested and involved during their visits because we truly believe that long-term oral health is a team effort.

It's never too early to start!

Meet The Doctor
Report
Dr. Caitlin Barnes grew up in the Tidewater area of Southeastern Virginia, and went on to attend both college and dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University. Following a summer externship in Barrow, Alaska, Dr. Barnes joined the staff at the Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital where she served as a general dentist for 2 years.
Routine Cleanings & Exams
Report
Oral health is just as important as maintaining a pleasing smile. Brushing and flossing at least twice a day, ensures this and keeps the harmful oral bacteria from multiplying quickly. Along with optimum oral hygiene at home, it is essential to visit the dentist for routine consultations at least once every six months to get the teeth and other oral tissues examined.
Emergency Visits
Report
Accidents happen, especially with inquisitive and energetic kids. If your child experiences a dental emergency, call our office immediately! We'll talk you through the situation and schedule a same-day emergency visit if necessary. Our team will provide you with instructions on how to take care of your smile until you can come to our office to meet with us.
Limited Problem Focused Exams
Report
A limited Problem-focused dental exam is a type of emergency exam in which the dentist will diagnose any specific acute problem in your child's mouth instead of evaluating the whole dental system. During this examination, the dentist will look for any of these issues virtually and might even go with a detailed examination using X-rays or other dental equipment to examine the area that isn't visible with naked eyes.
Consult Appointments
Report
Your dental provider may recommend your child see Dr. Barnes for treatment that is best accomplished in a pediatric dental office. We will initiate this process by scheduling a consultation appointment. Dr. Barnes will review the referral and x-rays sent from your dental provider, as well as the health history you provide as part of our new patient paperwork, before determining the treatment plan and most appropriate treatment modality.
