Experts recommend changing the oil and oil filter in your vehicle by the oil monitor index used on most new vehicles. This at times can be fine but it depends on the type of oil used in your vehicle. If you are not using synthetic oil it is still recommended to change the oil and oil filter every 3 months or 3,000 miles, which ever is first.
