I have been going to Dr. Paul-Ryan Lake's dental office since 2015 when I was introduced by one of my coworkers.
Dr. Paul and his staff are incredibly nice people who create a welcoming experience for all. I am grateful for their care and they have helped me maintain healthy oral hygiene.
I always look forward to one of their appointments!

Dr. Lake and staff are phenomenal. I have never had such a thorough exam as well as detailed explanation by a dentist on the state of my teeth and overall oral health. I am impressed by this seeing as I enjoy knowing what is being done and many dentists do not tell you much. This is not the case with Dr. Lake. Very happy to be a patient here.

As long as I am living here in the bay area I will choose Paul Ryan Lake as a dentist. He's very honest personable just an incredible person that I just met today. He told me about all the cavities I had in my mouth that my past dentist didn't tell me about that's all mother story I look forward to working with you Dr. Lake. Long & short: the best dentist I have ever had. Dr. Lake and his entire Team are welcoming, caring, and talented professionals. I have had to spend a lot of time in dentists' chairs, and Dr. Lake's is easily the one I have felt most comfortable in. He is talented in his work, warm, transparent, and has great "chair-side manner." Also, as someone that has had to have a lot of invasive work, I can tell you that *hands down* Dr. Lake is the most gentle dentist I have ever had. I don't even feel it when he administers the anesthetic, let alone the work! Highly recommend

I’ve been seeing dr lake for about five years and recommend him so highly. When I first moved to him he spotted a serious gum issue that my old dentist had never mentioned — the periodontist confirmed I was long overdue to address it. I’m so grateful he found it before it was too late. And he’s been proactive about a number of other issues that make a lot of sense and make a big difference. He has great hygienists and beautiful offices.

Dr. Lake and all of his staff make going to the dentist something to look forward to. Christina, Sarah, and Ivan are both extremely personable and are genuinely happy to see people come in. Dr. Lake is friendly, genuinely cares about the oral health of his patients, and is very informative. He fully explains everything that he is doing in an easy to understand manner, and yet gets to the point quickly. Go here if you need a dentist!

Super duper amazing experience, highly recommend. I posted on nextdoor.com for a dental office recommendation and im so glad i went to this one. First and foremost, silly me forgot to fill out the digital forms for a new patient.. (took about 15min). The front desk was lovely, greeted me and was very welcoming. Then I was called in and met with the RDA who took xrays, photos, used these tool to retract my mouth to get a much thorough physical look into my teeth. Then the doctor was called in (which for me, has always been cleaning first then doctor), he is friendly, very knowledgable, very warm

I always enjoyed my periodic visit at the dentist, but Dr. Lake's practice/office turns it up a notch for me. The entire staff are exceptional in their areas of expertise. Upon arrival, you're immediately welcomed at the reception with a pleasant greeting and a smile that gives you feeling like family meeting each other after a long while.
The hygienists are gentle, and comforting. Then, there's Dr. Lake who is being who he is, and great at what he does - taking great care of his patients with a big smile.

I do not write reviews often, but I feel compelled to write one for Dr. Lake and his staff, as I'm moving cross country and incredibly sad about no longer having him as a dentist. I had a lot of dental work as a child, which left me terrified and very uncomfortable going to the dentist. Many years later, Dr Lake is the first time I don't have anxiety going to the dentist. He takes an approach of only doing work if you have to. I've been going to Dr. Lake for a few years now and he is excellent. Very good email communication about new changes due to COVID. His staff is kind, knowledgeable, and competent. The office is professional and clean. Even during simple tooth cleanings, Dr. Lake always personally comes to see and check in on me to ensure everything is okay and I get any questions answered. He's also given me helpful advice to avoid problem areas and potential future dental bills down the line.

Dr. Lake and his staff are simple the BEST! I've suffered from "dental phobia" all my adult life, and before seeing Dr. Lake I had to be fully anesthetized just to have a dental cleaning. His calming nature and caring personality are so very genuine that I'm able to have procedures done without having a meltdown. He and his staff are always polite, professional, and honest. I'm never surprised with a bill and their office is always clean and inviting. Thanks Dr. Lake!!!!

I have never been so mistreated and damaged by a dentist in my life. Dr. Lake verbally abused me and degraded me in front of his staff and other patients by intensely reprimanding me that I was the worst patient of his at being on time and no showing and slandering me with false statements. He cancelled my appointment on me after driving over the speed limit and running up stairs to get to his office dripping in sweat where he looked at me to tell me he cancelled my appointment and charging me a $100 NO SHOW fee when I did show and was only late but he said he could not work on me because the

Best dentist I've ever been to. Appointments always start on time, and they get you in and out quickly but also do a very thorough job. Dr. Lake and his hygienists take the time to explain why they're doing what they're doing and to explain any dental issues you may have. Everyone in the office goes above and beyond to make sure you feel comfortable. I really could not recommend Dr. Lake and his team highly enough.

As someone with more cavities than teeth, they made sure that I knew how to improve my flossing habits while not making me feel like I will only be eating soft foods within the year. To be fair, quality of denstistry at this place is great so my negative review isn't about that.
I would recommend this place to anyone that lives within walking distance, has a private driver, or no other obligations that might make them late for an appointment. If you're not there early or right on time, they're calling you and you might be able to get in if you're only a few minutes late. Otherwise, cancelled. Along with an air of annoyance that you dared interrupt the schedule of this busy, important place.

Paul Ryan has a slightly unfortunate naming conflict with our late speaker of house, which is something I always giggled at. However, he is an amazing dentist and I always enjoy our visits. It seems like he knows me personally every time I have a checkup, and makes sure to ask me how I'm doing.
The office is clean and gorgeously situated above union square. They do a good job of cleaning my teeth and I've had one cavity filled which wasn't an altogether unpleasant experience.
If you're looking for a dentist, can't recommend Paul Ryan enough!

I've had some interesting dental experiences, but I really enjoyed my first appointment with Dr. Lake. Yes, it was a full two hours, but it was the most pleasant two hours I've ever spent with a dentist.
The office is super modern and relaxed feeling and there was pleasant top-40 music playing in the background. The receptionist, Fabian, instantly introduced himself and offered me water before walking me through the forms I needed to fill out (on an iPad! Hello 2015!)
