Customized Vaccination Programs
Report
Most veterinary hospitals in Colorado Springs offer vaccinations. The difference at Polo Springs Veterinary Hospital is that we customize an immunization program for your companion's specific needs. It can be difficult to know what questions to ask your veterinarian about vaccinations, especially considering the multitude of vaccine products available and the differences between brands in term of design, safety and efficacy.
Leptospirosis
Report
Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection that is spread through the urine of infected wildlife (including rodents), livestock or even other dogs. It is one of the most common zoonotic (spread from animals to humans) diseases world wide. This means it can not only be fatal to your dog, but to you as well!
Bordetella Bronchiseptica
Report
Bordetella bronchiseptica is a bacterial infection that is typically part of a complex of respiratory diseases that results in what is commonly known as "kennel cough" in dogs. This is a bit of a misnomer as a dog certainly does not need to be in a kennel situation to be exposed.
Infected dogs will demonstrate signs of an upper respiratory infection including a dry hacking cough (some patients will even bring up phlegm or appear to be vomiting), nasal discharge, watery eyes, as well as a decreased appetite and energy level.Because this infection is so widespread and easily transmitted, we consider it a core vaccine and recommend it for all dogs regardless of their current lifestyle.

This is a combination vaccine that protects cats against feline viral rhinotracheitis (feline herpes), calicivirus and feline panleukopenia (feline distemper). The feline herpes virus and calicivirus are both major causes of upper respiratory infections in cats with potentially long term, and even life long consequences.
