Dr. O'Dowd was raised in rural northwest Ohio and studied biology at the University of Toledo where she graduated cum laude.

She then received her DDS degree from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 2001 (go Bucks!). After practicing in several offices, she moved to Lancaster County to care for the underserved population there for six years at Welsh Mountain Health Centers. She was the dental director there for one and a half years.
