Yu Family Law
Based in Atlanta, Yu Family Law is a prominent family law firm. Our family law practice includes divorce, child custody, child support, parenting plans, pre and post nuptial agreements, modification actions and contempt actions. Emily is Amazing! She is very honest and considerate. Unlike most of the lawyers I have consulted with, she responds to me timely and always thinks a few steps ahead for me and my daughter.

Emily is not the cheapest lawyer, but she DEFINITELY deserves every penny she charges! My husband has a history of DV & alcohol abuse, and Emily came up with all the terms that are still protecting my daughter and me. My husband had to accomplish an anger management class and other therapies. Emily can be tough to the opposing attorney and be really gentle, willing-to-listen.

About Emily
Report
Family is everything. That's why choosing the right family law attorney to resolve your family disputes will be one of the most important decisions you'll ever have to make. Having experienced a family law matter litigation myself, I truly understand how stressful and nerve-racking the court process can be and how important it is to have the right attorney by your side.
Divorce
Report
Divorce is the dissolution of a marriage. Per Georgia statutes, the marital estate must be "equitably divided." What this means is a "fair" division and not necessarily an equal division, however, most marital estates tend to be equally divided (barring special circumstances).

This division is where it's most important to have an attorney that knows the law, understands your individual circumstances, and is willing to go the extra lengths to make sure you get what you need to begin the next chapter of your life.
Child Support
Report
Georgia requires both parents to provide for a child's needs and maintenance by way of child support. Before 2007, child support was calculated based on a percentage of the paying parent's income; now, Georgia uses an "income share model" which takes into consideration both parents' incomes and certain expenses related to the minor child.
Alimony/Spousal Support
Report
Alimony, also known as spousal support, is support that is paid to a spouse for a specified duration of time. The difficult aspect in addressing alimony and spousal support in Georgia is that Georgia does not have any specific laws or formulas that calculate how much alimony should be provided or for how long; it is always assessed on a case-by-case basis.
