Initially started as a passion project by head designer, Tamara Belt, Hawthorne Garden Design has over 15 years of experience designing and implementing total outdoor spaces.

At Hawthorne, we believe in involvement in our community, to share our expertise and love for green spaces and live up to Rachel Carson's message: it is inherent upon us to preserve and protect nature, so we can cherish it and find in it rejuvenation and purpose.
Tamara serves on the Board and is head of the landscape committee of the Tregaron Conservancy, a non-profit organization that focuses on the restoration and maintenance of the 13-acre historic garden located between Woodley Park and Cleveland Park.She also volunteers in local public schools, to ensure students, parents, and staff may fully benefit from their gardens.
