In 1969 WNS relocated from Washington Street to the new church building at 1070 Hooper Avenue. WNS has grown into the oldest and largest church-related nursery school in the state of New Jersey. The school is open to all religions and communities. People travel from as far as Manahawkin, Brick, and Manchester just to have their children attend our programs.

Westminster believes that childhood should be a journey, not a race. Experienced, qualified teachers will guide children through learning opportunities in accordance with each child's individual rate of growth, development and readiness. Our goal is to develop happy and well-adjusted children. A developmentally appropriate, academic curriculum with learning experiences is offered.

Curriculum
Report
At Westminster Nursery School, our curriculum focuses on educating the whole child. We are implementing the latest version of " The Creative Curriculum " developed by Teaching Strategies, Inc. This is our guide for selection of our developmentally appropriate, academic learning experiences.

Through the implementation of curriculum studies, the children will have the opportunity to investigate various topics in a meaningful way which include literacy, mathematics, science, social studies and the arts. These subject areas are explored through intentional teaching activities within the Learning Centers in the classroom.
Guidelines of the Curriculum
Report
Science - Children learn about the physical world by being questioned and encouraged to wonder about their personal observations. Art - Children learn self-expression via a variety of creative media. They learn that the process of self-expression, rather than the product, is more important. Music - Children have experiences and participate in both unstructured and structured (teacher-directed) activities.
Example Curriculum Topics
Report
2. Spontaneous singing to children to attempt to encourage the children to put their thoughts to music. Children begin to make up songs about weather, rhyming, etc. Children will be exposed to numbers and letters through academically age-appropriate activities. It is important to build concepts regarding numbers and letters, not just repetition without understanding.
Parents
Report
Westminster incorporates a variety of opportunities for parent involvement in our programs. Parents serve as a child's first teacher and are an integral part of their educational journey. The following examples are some of the ways parents may choose to be more informed regarding their child's learning experiences.
