Our nonprofit organization provides classical arts education in ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics, music, voice, acting, and technical theater, emphasizing social-emotional learning to develop emotional intelligence and resilience. Ballet Training
Our ballet program develops technical proficiency and artistic expression through structured training. Students learn foundational techniques, performance skills, and discipline while improving physical coordination and focus. Classes are available for ages 3 through advanced levels, with opportunities for public performances and recitals. The curriculum emphasizes proper form and gradual skill progression.
Youth Theater
Acting classes and theater productions teach students vocal projection, character development, and stage presence. Participants engage in full-scale productions while learning script analysis, improvisation, and collaborative performance techniques. The program builds public speaking skills and creative confidence through regular showcases and community performances.
Music Education

Laura Norman Tyson
Executive/Artistic Director
With four decades of experience, Ms. Laura founded Oklahoma Performing Arts in 1996. She has trained students who now attend prestigious institutions like Pacific Northwest Ballet and University of Utah. Her leadership emphasizes character development through arts education.
V Kyle Tyson
Teaching Artist
A disability integration specialist with a BFA in Theatre Performance from University of Texas. V advocates for inclusive arts education and represents LGBTQIA+ and disabled communities. They direct community engagement initiatives and outreach programs.
Megan Tauch
Movement Instructor

Oklahoma Performing Arts is our extended family! Our daughter has benefitted over the past 8 years in so many ways beyond art! The small classes have provided her with individualized instruction. The mentorship opportunities have built up her self esteem and helped her navigate the social pressures young people face everyday with school and friends. The design of the program has gifted her with leadership skills, passion for helping others and a love of the performing arts. I am confidents these skills and experiences will bring her lifetime joy and happiness.

Our 3 year old little girl LOVES her "dance class" she enjoys Tap, Ballet and tumbling and she comes home saying and showing us the dance technique terms she learns, she loves it! We love how much she learns from this class!

I danced with OPA for 5 years. It might be the best dance studio on the face of the earth. Besides all of the different arts you learn you also learn discipline and how to work hard. When you are there you truly feel like you're part of a family.

My children have learned so much at OPA! We love the classes, we love the instructors, and we love the program they offer that takes students beyond classes, developing them into leaders and empowering them to give back to the community through the arts. If you're looking for dance, music or acting classes, I HIGHLY recommend Oklahoma Performing Arts!
