I.R. Guitar Lessons
We are conservatory-trained teachers with years of experience on the stage and in the classroom. More than instructors, we are role models and mentors dedicated to making sure that every student reaches their full potential. Our curriculum creates the complete musician, so that students can be any type of player.

Students build musical literacy, technique and musical fluency while learning a variety of styles so that they can play Bach today and rock tomorrow. Our faculty represent some of the most experienced and well-educated players and teachers in the Bay Area. They specialize in rock, metal, classical, and jazz, just to name a few!

Our Story
Report
I.R. Guitar Lessons founder Ian Rowe began his formal musical studies in 2010 while a classical guitar student in Southern California. He worked closely with Dr. Katherine Hickey in the areas of childhood music education and pedagogy, and upon graduating, took teaching positions in the Bay Area. After settling in Oakland, Ian found that the traditional music schools were producing students who played music very well, but didn't love music.

Tuition & Fees
Report
All lessons are offered by dedicated faculty and feature easy scheduling, free guitar rentals, and ample performance opportunities! Perfect for students who don't plan on taking four lessons a month, these lessons serve as a great way to check-in and jump start your playing! Like private lessons, tuition is collected at the 1st lesson of every month, and covers 4 30-minute weekly classes.
Guitar Lessons for Children
Report
According to a study by John Hopkins University, children who study music are activated "mentally, physically, and emotionally." Compared to children who didn't participate, musically active students experience a boost in reading skills, memory, and mathematical ability. Most importantly, music offers them an enriching avenue for self expression and it's never to early to start.
