About OSC
Report
One Step Closer Therapeutic Riding Inc. is an award-winning equestrian organization using the human-horse relationship to help the participants achieve their full potential - physically, emotionally, and spiritually - to be all that God intends for them to be.

We offer therapeutic riding and other equine-assisted-therapy to individuals with physical and/or emotional disabilities, and to U.S. Veterans recovering from physical and emotional trauma of war.Whether on horseback, or playing ground games, these activities assist healing and physical development, stimulate learning, and build confidence and self-esteem.
Therapeutic Benefits
Report
Therapeutic riding and other equine-related activities have been used for decades as a tool for improving the lives of individuals with special needs. Riding a horse gives a sense of freedom, mobility and accomplishment. To the human body, riding a horse simulates the act of walking.

Because horseback riding gently and rhythmically moves the rider's body in a manner similar to a human gait, riders with physical disabilities often show improvement in flexibility, balance and muscle strength. Each individual has unique needs and goals: Improved physical strength, balance and coordination, motor skills, social skills, confidence and self-esteem.

Landa is OSC's Program Director and Head Instructor. Landa is certified by PATH to be a Mentor Instructor, preparing new instructors for teaching adaptive riding.

The Adaptive Riding Program serves children and adults with special needs to help them improve achieve their developmental and therapeutic goals. Our mission is to help our participants be productive and independent in their daily lives outside the arena, by using safe, exciting, and motivating equine-assisted-therapy.
Veterans Program
Report
It is estimated that 500,000 soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan have PTS and/or TBI. This is a daunting number, yet does not include Veterans from the Vietnam era and other military conflicts. It is also estimated that, on average, 22 Veterans commit suicide each day. OSC's Military Outreach programs were created to respond to this dire state of mental health within our Veteran population.
