3D Scanning
Report
3D Scanning is the process of capturing physical data and processing it into digital data. The scanning process works by first using a laser to take thousands of data points a second that each have a specific X, Y, and Z coordinate value, known as a point cloud.
The point cloud data is then post-processed into a polygonized mesh model (.stl), which can be used for rapid prototyping, part inspection, or reverse engineered to be a solid or surface model.Dimensional Engineering has had years of experience utilizing 3D scanning technology. Our advanced equipment allows us to scan parts from as small as a screw to as large as a semi-truck without losing scan quality and accuracy.

Reverse Engineering
Report
Dimensional Engineering can help you bridge the gap between the physical and virtual worlds. We pioneered the use of non-contact laser scanning and laser tracking technologies for reverse engineering, and we continue to lead the field. We apply the latest hardware and software, along with our unmatched experience and expertise, to capture physical objects of all kinds in 3D digital data.
CMM Part Inspection
Report
One of our most powerful metrology tools we utilize is a Coordinate Measuring Machine, or CMM. Our large volume CMM allows us to take discrete points on the surface of an object in three dimensions, and then use those points to generate precise and accurate measurements. The benefit of a CMM is the elimination of human error by automating the inspection process through the use of Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) G-code.
Dimensional Inspection
Report
Across all industries, companies strive for their product to be as close to nominal as possible. With our expertise in the latest metrology hardware and software, we help companies make that aspiration a reality. The need for accurate and precise inspection during the fabrication process has allowed Dimensional Engineering to be at the forefront in the use of metrology technology.
