First began interning as an appraiser in 1975 under the direction of Donald Vogel of Valley House Gallery in Dallas, Texas. Ms. Cain is only the second Arizonan to be admitted as a Senior Member of the American Society of Appraisers in Fine Arts and the fifteenth individual internationally to earn a second designation.
She wrote the examination for appraising American Indian Art in 1987, rewriting it along with Maryann L'Heureux in 1993. Since 1987 Ms. Cain has served on the International Board of Examiners of the American Society of Appraisers. In 1992 she became a Certified Appraiser of Personal Property, tested in the specialty of Limited Edition Prints through the International Society of Appraisers.
