About Us
Report
San Juan Outfitting was started in 1979 on the outskirts of Bayfield, Colorado. In 1985, a Durango couple, who had worked for the founder for three years, bought the business. Over the next 23 years, they expanded permits and built a solid reputation for quality service and great hunting. From 2008 to 2013, Mark & Sharon Bracich owned the outfit and continued to offer quality hunts and the best drop camps around.
Guided Hunts
Report
Find yourself nestled in the majestic pines and aspens of the Rocky Mountains waiting for the perfect opportunity to fill your tag, bring home your harvest and share your success photos. The guided camp accommodations are quite comfortable as you stay in quaint canvas wall tents. Our main "indoor" gathering place is the cook tent, where we'll share most of our meals--hearty breakfasts and wonderful evening meals sure to please.
Drop Camps
Report
Those hunters who would like to hunt without a guide, yet not have to worry about packing in all the gear needed to maintain a camp for a week, an outfitted drop camp is for you. We set up our drop camps before your arrival. They are well-equipped: a good-sized canvas wall tent, nice cots with sleeping pads, full camp-kitchen set-up with propane stove, pots/pans/dishes/etc, table/chairs, and a private privy.

Our permitted drop camps with the United States Forest Service are located in GMU 74 and GMU 77 in Colorado. Our guided camps are located in GMU 77. SJO has a great herd of horses that can accommodate all riding experience. Although you are not required to have prior experience, for our longer trips, it is helpful if you can get a few rides in near your home town or on trailrides prior to your adventure.
