We are proud to have a wonderful staff, several of whom have been with the school for many years. Each class is taught by two certified teachers who work together as a team. In addition, as a part of the parent cooperative mission, each classroom has a helping parent each day. The underlying philosophy of our program is that young children learn best through play in a relaxed environment.
Children are accepted as individuals with diverse abilities and unique interests, allowing for the development of a positive self-concept. MGNS is a part day preschool for ages 0-5. For ages 3-5, we offer preschool based on learning through play. Our 4K program features low teacher/student ratios. Toddler Time is a wonderful way to introduce children ages 0-3 to preschool while accompanied by an adult.

History
Report
Monona Grove Nursery School (MGNS) was founded in 1958 by Alice Schuller and DeLoris Vander Velde. Although some things have changed, like digital photos in weekly emails to parents, the nuts and bolts have remained the same - literally, in some cases. Parent volunteers have been part of Monona Grove Nursery School from the beginning.
Staff
Report
I am so happy to be here at MGNS. After 3 years as a MGNS parent, I am thrilled to be an MGNS teacher and the School Director. Before my two children were born, I taught for several years grades between kindergarten and fourth. Now my kids are all grown up, so I love spending time with the kids here at MGNS.
Yoga at MGNS
Report
MGNS is thrilled to have partnered with Megan Planey, of To The Moon! Yoga for Kids, to provide bimonthly yoga classes to all of our preschool and 4K classes. We believe that Yoga helps teach our kids about the strength of their bodies and minds. The stretching, breathing and mindfulness is of benefit to all people, especially the little ones.
