Our Horses
Report
On the smaller side, Big Mac is one of our miniature horses at Pegasus TRA! Big Mac is great to introduce to anyone who may be afraid of our larger horses. His calm and patient demeanor make him an asset for our unmounted Equine Facilitated Learning program. Big Mac is especially helpful for our participants who are unable to easily ambulate when leading a horse.
Our Facilities
Report
We are able to offer year round lessons at Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Academy in Philadelphia thanks to our large indoor riding arena. Our arena has special sand & felt footing and is professionally maintained for the comfort and safety of our horses, riders, and volunteers. Outdoor Arena - Pegasus is fortunate enough to also have a lighted outdoor arena that is fully fenced and enclosed.
Therapeutic Riding
Report
Therapeutic riding is a unique form of therapy, using the three dimensional movement of the horse to stretch and strengthen riders' muscles, move their joints, and improve balance and coordination for walking. The movement of the horse mimics the human gait by being rhythmic, repeatable, and three-dimensional - all movements needed to simulate normal walking patterns.
