Durable Concrete Retaining Wall Systems
GeoStone Retaining Wall Systems was founded in 1989 by Fred Agee, a seasoned professional in segmental retaining wall construction. Recognizing limitations in existing modular wall systems, Mr. Agee developed the GeoStone patented open-core design, which revolutionized the industry by offering superior drainage and connection strength through its Rock Interlock system. With close to one million modules deployed across North America, GeoStone remains a leader in open-core modular retaining wall solutions, operating under licensing agreements with manufacturing plants in multiple states including Alabama, Florida, and Pennsylvania. Our system prioritizes simplicity and functionality, eliminating cumbersome design elements like lips, lugs, and pins while maintaining exceptional structural integrity. The lighter weight of our blocks reduces material and logistics costs, making GeoStone the most cost-effective commercial retaining wall system on the market. Professional installers and DIY enthusiasts alike benefit from our versatile products, which support vertical walls, ashlar patterns, columns, and seawall applications. Backed by decades of engineering expertise and extensive field testing, GeoStone continues to expand its footprint across the southeastern United States and up the eastern seaboard, maintaining its reputation as the best modular retaining wall system available.

Services
GeoStone G12-8 Blocks
GeoStone G12-8 blocks offer a lightweight commercial retaining wall solution at 72 lbs per unit. These blocks reduce shipping costs by allowing 300+ sq ft more per truckload compared to competitors while maintaining structural integrity through patented Rock Interlock technology. Professional crews use this system for large-scale projects including 47-foot walls and seawall applications.
GeoStone G12-4 Blocks
The GeoStone G12-4 block provides a 36-lb residential retaining wall solution that balances strength with ease of installation. This system allows single-person handling while maintaining connection strength equivalent to heavier blocks, making it ideal for DIY builders and landscapers. Combines with G12-8 blocks for decorative banding patterns.
Rock Interlock System
Our Rock Interlock technology uses crushed limestone filler in block cores to create thousands of friction points that resist lateral pressure. This open-core design eliminates traditional alignment components while providing superior structural performance. Self-repairing properties reform connections when shifted, maintaining wall integrity under stress.
Ashlar Pattern Design
GeoStone blocks enable unlimited design possibilities including Ashlar patterns that combine 4-inch and 8-inch blocks. This flexibility creates visually appealing walls without compromising structural integrity. Professional installers can mix block sizes for decorative effects while maintaining connection strength across the entire wall system.
Seawall Applications
GeoStone's open-core design provides specialized seawall solutions with superior drainage and connection strength. The system resists wave action through interlocked core gravel while allowing water permeation to reduce hydrostatic pressure. Ideal for shoreline protection where durability meets functional design requirements.
People
Fred Agee
Founder
Fred Agee founded GeoStone in 1989 after developing Alabama's first segmental retaining walls. He created the patented open-core design through hands-on experience with all existing modular wall systems, identifying limitations in traditional design elements like pins and lips.
Questions
How does the Rock Interlock system work?
The Rock Interlock system uses crushed limestone in block cores to create thousands of friction points that resist lateral pressure. This self-repairing technology reforms connections when shifted, maintaining wall integrity under stress.
What makes GeoStone blocks different from other retaining wall systems?
GeoStone blocks feature patented open-core technology without traditional alignment components like lips, lugs, or pins. This lightweight design reduces shipping costs while maintaining structural integrity through interlocking gravel cores.
Can I install GeoStone blocks myself?
DIY builders can handle 36-lb G12-4 blocks for residential walls under 15 feet, but recommend professional installation for walls over 4 feet tall. Educational resources help with basic installations while specialists handle complex projects.
Which block size should I choose?
Use 72-lb G12-8 blocks for commercial walls over 16 feet tall where compression resistance matters most. Choose 36-lb G12-4 blocks for faster installation and decorative patterns on residential projects where easier handling matters.
What regions do you serve?
GeoStone has manufacturing plants in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Missouri, and Arkansas. Distribution covers the southeastern U.S. and extends up the eastern seaboard.
How does GeoStone handle curved walls?
The open-core design without alignment components allows easier radius construction compared to traditional systems. Installers can create curved walls without modifying block components through the natural flexibility of the Rock Interlock system.

Best place to buy concrete retaining wall block. Higher quality and less expensive than at the box store, but this place is for those who have bigger jobs.

Geostone will not return emails or voicemails. Ive been trying to place an order for 3 weeks now after speaking with 3 different employees with the company and they never get back with me on a price or delivery lead time. They have put my project more than 3 weeks behind schedule. Do yourself a favor and order direct from the manufacturer and bypass geostone.

Super friendly business. They talked with the two of us vs. ignoring my wife during the process. Good selection, nice folks!
