Junior Appalachian Musician
All JAM teachers, staff, volunteers and teaching assistants are welcome to attend a Regional JAM Teacher Gathering in Knoxville, Tennessee. There are currently four possible dates being considered on which to hold the event. Please complete the interest form and check which dates would be best for you to attend.

We have had a few different directors express some interest in gathering to fellowship and trade ideas, thoughts, teaching methodologies, etc around our respective JAM programs. Junior Appalachian Musicians is excited to announce that we will be able to program several slots at this year's International Bluegrass Music Association's festival in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Junior Appalachian Musicians is a non-profit and the parent organization for 50+ after school programs for children in grades 4 - 8. We provide communities with the tools and support they need to teach children to play and dance to traditional old time and bluegrass music. JAM introduces music through small group instruction on instruments common to the Appalachian region, such as fiddle, banjo and guitar.

Junior Appalachian Musicians, Inc. seeks a Part Time (20 hours/week average) Field Office Coordinator, who will be responsible for the management of a new JAM satellite office in the Knoxville, TN area.

The Field Office Coordinator must be knowledgeable in community organizing and traditional Appalachian music/culture, as responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: establishing community partnerships to organize new after school JAM programs; and, provide JAM program model materials, training, consultation and assistance to existing JAM programs throughout East TN and surrounding areas within a 150 mile radius of Knoxville.

When a program becomes an affiliate of JAM, use of the trademarked Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) name and program model can be used to identify your traditional music education program. As the parent organization for all JAM programs, we provide resources to existing program affiliates, as well as groups working to develop new JAM programs for youth across the Southern Appalachian region.
Affiliation Requirements

Each affiliated program must adhere to the following five standards each year by signing a memorandum of agreement with JAM. The program must be accessible to all students by providing free or low cost instrument loans and free or highly subsidized tuition based on financial need. No student should be turned away because of an inability to pay tuition.
