Omega Middle School grew from the inspired work of Rainbow Community School, formerly Rainbow Mountain Children's School, that began in 1977. A holistic and innovative middle school was in high demand and Omega came to fruition in 1994. Grades 6, 7 and 8 make up Omega Middle School. Omega has continued to be a leader in education and has been winning awards across the US.
About Omega

The 6th grader is a completely different student compared to the 8th grader. Even though a 6th grader believes they are ready to take on the world, she needs a further nurturing environment in the 6th grade year to incrementally grasp the emotional, biological and physical changes occurring. This is why our 6th graders are in a class of their own.
Campus

Rainbow Community School is about 5 acres in size, with the Omega part of campus on 3 acres. The Omega campus is special to us. We acquired this property in 2013 and renovated the buildings to house our Omega Middle School students. This new part of campus expanded the size, nearly doubling what the school had previously.
6th Grade Entrepreneurs

Our socially conscious entrepreneurship curriculum in Omega Middle School fosters entrepreneurial thinking while also developing our sixth graders' empathy, creativity and community involvement. In this unit, students work independently or in pairs to design and implement small businesses that positively impact the local or global community.
Design Fair
Report
Design and engineering is a integral part of the Omega Experience. One very important way the Omega Middle School embraces design and engineering is through a long term design project that is presented at the Design Fair. The Design Fair is an opportunity for Omega design teams to work collaboratively, innovate, engineer and make real change through Design Thinking.
