If you don't feel comfortable visiting the store, orders may be placed through our web shop or bookshop.org/shop/grolier. In 2006, Ifeanyi Menkiti saved the Grolier Poetry Book Shop in Cambridge when he purchased it to prevent it from shuttering. In the spirit of Ifeanyi, his family will continue the mission of the Grolier.
Born in Onitsha, Nigeria, Ifeanyi first came to the United States to attend Pomona College from which he received his undergraduate degree. Later he went on to Columbia University and New York University for further studies. He received his Ph. D in Philosophy from Harvard University. He has taught Philosophy at Wellesley College for more than 41 years.

Report
Founded in 1927 by Adrian Gambet and Gordon Cairnie, the original shop stocked mainly private press books, some poetry, and a sampling of avant-garde literature. Frequented over the years by the poets mentioned above, as well as others such as Charles Olson, Anais Nin, Seamus Heaney, Frank Bidart, Robert Pinsky, David Ferry, the literary tradition became well established.

The Grolier Poetry Foundation and Forums Trust is a 501(c)(3) organization. The Foundation, which serves as the anchor for the work of the Grolier, is the tax entity established to preserve our impressive legacy of cultural work. Originally formed as a private operating foundation, we are now transitioning to a public charity, and rely on fundraising activities like support from friends, donors, grants, and events to continue our mission.
