The intersection at Concho Avenue and South Chadbourne Street is now open for East/West through traffic! Construction warning signs still remain in place, but motorists can navigate around the signs to reach popular downtown businesses-including CACTUS BOOK SHOP-- that were previously blocked. Motorists can now drive down Concho straight through and across Chadbourne.

"Teddy Blue" WE POINTED THEM NORTH: Recollections of a Cowpuncher 1991, Lakeside Press edition, Chicago. Edited and with a historical introduction by Ron Tyler Adams, Ramon Adams, SIX-GUNS: This is one of the best books in recent years depicting cowboy life.

He completed his education at the University of Texas after serving in Europe during World War II. Kelton married Anna Lipp of Ebensee, Austria in 1947 and began a career in agriculture journalism at the San Angelo Standard-Times in 1949. He became editor of the Sheep & Goat Raiser magazine in 1963 and associate editor of Livestock Weekly in 1968, retiring in 1990.

The evening before he passed, I had my last conversation with Elmer. I had stopped for a visit with him at the care center where he'd been undergoing rehab for about two months. He was propped up in his hospital bed and as he shook my hand, he admitted to being "a little tired" from his exercise workout that day.
