To promote the quality of life for our canine friends through training and community involvement. Obedience and show classes have been a staple since the early days and continue to improve our community. This legacy continues with our current endeavors. We have provided funds for the pets left behind in flood, hurricane and fire.
We volunteer our time working with 4H, nursing homes, pet fairs, and countless other areas. We provide testing for Canine Good Citizen and Therapy dogs. All of this from a very diverse group of people who share the common bond of loving our pets. Licking River Kennel Club is excited to provide our local community with educational resources and training.

Training

Licking River Kennel Club holds training courses throughout the year for specialties such as AKC Star Puppy, AKC Canine Good Citizen, and Therapy Dog International. Additionally, classes for American Kennel Club performance events, such as Conformation Training. These courses are provided to the local Central Ohio area in an effort to support and educate dog owners.
Canine Good Citizen

Throughout the year, the Licking River Kennel Club provides training classes for the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program. The CGC Program was started as a means for rewarding dogs who were well behaved both as companion dogs, and within the community. The American Kennel Club has now included the completion of the Canine Good Citizen Program as part of their Title Recognition program.
Therapy Dog International

Therapy Dog International (TDI) is a volunteer organization dedicated to regulating, testing and the registration of therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers for the purpose of visiting nursing homes, hospitals, other institutions and wherever else therapy dogs are needed.
Started in 1976, this non-profit organization currently has therapy dog and handler teams in all 50 states across the U.S. All breeds of dogs are eligible to be registered with TDI upon completing the necessary requirements.Negative Heartworm Test within the past year if the dog has not received continuous heartworm prevention treatment.
