Food that collects around your braces and wires can cause swollen gums, permanent stains (decalcification or white spots), and cavities.

An orthodontist is a licensed dentist who has graduated from dental school and has an additional two to three years of training in an accredited orthodontic residency program. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children should have an orthodontic evaluation by the age of seven.

Orthodontic insurance is a benefit for you and your child. If you have insurance coverage for orthodontic treatment, your personal expense will be less. Many insurance policies have a lifetime orthodontic benefit, which is different from general dental insurance.
