Prairie Plugs
Report
Prairie Plugs have a 2 1/4 inch top diameter and measure approximately 5 inches deep. Our 5 inch deep container has grooves running vertically which channel the roots down to the bottom of the pot where they are air pruned. This eliminates root circling and stimulates lateral branching and the development of more root tips.
Facilities

Our production facilities include 6,000 sq.ft. of climate controlled greenhouse propagation space and 20,000 sq.ft. of native plant nursery production and overwintering houses. Seed sown in late fall and early winter are stratified in our walk-in cooler and then brought into our propagation facilities beginning the end of February of each season through mid summer.

Water willow ( Justicia americana) provides a high level of stabilization of streambeds and shorelines as it's rhizomatous growth pattern secures the stream substrate with mass densities roots forming below the water and dense colonies above water. These colonies provide high quality shelter and habitat for numerous species of fry, juvenile, and adult fish.
