In 1950, on a salty Manteo waterfront, founder Burwell 'Burl' Evans fulfilled his dream of a hardware store on the Outer Banks. Between he and his wife running the store, it was about as 'Mom & Pop' as you could get. In the first 10 years of business, the hardware store flooded 12 times, but dedication was key in Evans' heart.
