Ferne Yangyeitie Caulker
Founder & Executive Director
Ferne founded Ko-Thi Dance in 1969 and served as UWM Professor of Dance until 2016. A Fulbright Scholar with extensive African cultural expertise, she has shaped Milwaukee's arts landscape through preservation and innovation in diaspora traditions.
Kumasi Allen
Musical and Marketing Consultant
Milwaukee native and former Ton Ko-Thi member brings global perspective to marketing and music. Combines corporate sales experience with cultural arts expertise, having traveled extensively to study African diaspora traditions while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Imani Huley
Children's Ensemble Director
Director of Ton Ko-Thi Children Performing Ensemble since 2020. Trained under master teachers in Denver and Milwaukee, she specializes in African dance instruction and has collaborated with multiple arts organizations to develop youth programming since 2004.
Deonte Ellis
Musical Director
Milwaukee native and former Bucks Beats Drumline member joined Ko-Thi in 2019. As Assistant Music Director, he teaches djembe drumming while working with Wisconsin Conservatory and Racine schools to expand African music education programs.

The Ko-Thi dance Company, one of Milwaukee's greatest iconic cultural treasures, is celebrating 50 years of outstanding service to our community. It's founder, Fern Caulker, has brought creativity, history, pride and knowledge thru lively African dance, drumming and story telling influenced by her native Sierria Leon, West Africa and the diaspora.
