Summer camp provides the perfect environment for children to build their social skills and make new friends. Going to a new camp is a crash course in how to meet new people and get along with campers from different backgrounds. Children are also more likely to take social risks when at camp because they are all in a new environment.
Our Maine summer camp encourages collaboration and teamwork which promotes the personal growth of each camper. Learning and building these skills will help your child's confidence and their ability to handle social situations in the future. When your child is at our sleep away camp, they will be encouraged to go outside of their comfort zone.

It doesn't take long for campers to become part of our family and for our beautiful 200-acre property to become their summer home. The combination of North Star's value system, the RICHS, and our emphasis on teaching 21st century life skills is part of what sets us apart from other camps.

Our offices are open and staffed year-round so please feel free to reach out and contact Brooke or Steven at any time. Deciding on a sleep away camp is a big decision and hopefully one that will last a number of years. Let us partner with you and help you make the best decision. A home visit allows you to meet with Brooke and Steven, and to get to know them on a personal level.

Camp North Star offers a wide range of delicious and nutritious food options. There are three meals daily as well as afternoon and evening snack, and fresh fruit is available throughout the day. Breakfast and dinner are served in our beautiful dining hall where campers bond with their cabin while eating family style.
Screen Free Environment

The North Star experience for our campers is all about making new friends, developing new talents, learning valuable life skills and growing as an individual. Being attached to or using your cell phone or other pieces of technology is not something you'll see walking through our 200-acre property because Camp North Star is proud to be screen-free.
Activities

At Camp North Star our philosophy is reflected in everything we do. Our interest in each individual camper and family allows us to take the time and help camper 's design their activity schedule every week. Campers work with our program staff to choose five classes based on their interests to give them a well-rounded schedule for that week.

Our kids enjoyed so much this amazing camp! Great activities, sports, arts and handcraft. They made great friends and enjoyed every moment. Safety, covid - 19 protocols and medical attention were excellent. Steven and Mama Brooke have all under control organizing the camp in every detail, always helpful and very welcoming. The first question our oldest asked us if if they were going to go next summer. I guess they had a blast !

I am a camper here. This year was my first year here, but not my first at overnight camp. I was welcomed with open arms, and I couldn't be more grateful. Even with this ongoing pandemic, we were able to have a safe and happy camp experience. Even though I only planned on coming here for one year, once I came, I found that I couldn't leave. I hope to come back next year, and hope to spend many more weeks under the pines.

Camp sits on a beautiful piece of property with a gorgeous lake, where my kids days were full of so many different kinds of activities. From tennis, to watersports, to the arts, music, basketball, etc. Counselors were terrific, fun caring and responsible, and the owners who were present and very much hands on, provided a warm, caring, and safe environment for my 9 year old kids. We were amazed everyday as we scrolled through the photos how happy and engaged everyone was. Opening and running their camp as they did during the Summer of 2020, took a tremendous amount of fortitude, organization, planning

I can't say enough good things about Camp North Star. My daughter was nervous about her first camp experience but Steven and Brooke were amazing. She had an incredible experience and was eager to return the following year. They also went above and beyond to pull off 4 weeks of sleepaway camp during a pandemic. Simply amazing!

Camp North Star was a wonderful experience for our daughter in many ways. Camp staff was very watchful as we were unpacking our daughter's stuff, noticing that she was getting teary. As soon as we began departing, she swooped in to take our place. It made a huge difference. We got photos of the first day later that evening and our daughter was all smiles.
We received photos all week. The activities they participated in, particularly the evening camp-wide activities, were amazing - incredibly inventive, well-organized - a kid's dream (maybe adult's too!). We love the wide variety of activities

My daughter has had the opportunity for the last 4 summers to attend Camp North Star. There are so many activities to choose from. ( music, watersports, arts, drama, tennis and golf to name a few) My daughter loved how she got to choose the activities that she wanted to do and received detailed instruction. She found her love for water-skiing over the last couple years. The overnight trips were fun and amazing. The friendships she made here will last a lifetime. I forgot to add the food and camp facilities are top notch.
