The journey of Access Mobility began back in 1971, inside the small Indianapolis home of Raymond and Margie Jewell. Reading through the local newspaper, they came across an advertisement looking for sales representatives to help introduce a new product to the region: lift chairs. The Jewells answered that ad and began supplying this revolutionary new product all over Indiana, and ultimately all over the Midwest.

There is a program that may pay for what is called the seat lift mechanism of a lift chair. This is the hardware that does the helpful lifting of the chair. Insurance considers the rest of the chair to be furniture, and is not eligible for assistance. Because we do not file insurance claims, but pride ourselves on being a top lift chair provider, we discount every chair in the amount of the insurance set allowable.

In the 1980's, our service area stretched through several states across the Midwest. After a significant change in the way insurance viewed the helpful product, our focus drew closer to home.
