Young Musicians of Alamance (YMA) is 501c3 nonprofit organization that offers instrumental and general music education to elementary, middle, and high school students. We offer string lessons (violin, viola, cello), bucket drumming, song, and movement activities for all levels of players. Additionally, Fall 2021 we will be offering a new program - ukulele classes!

YMA follows the philosophy of El Sistema, which focuses on developing each child's sense of social emotional learning, musicianship, and sense of community inclusion. The majority of our students attend schools where 85% or more students qualify for free lunch. Students that qualify for free or reduced lunch receive free music lessons.
Services
Support YMA
Report
Supplying lessons, materials, instruments, and instrumental repairs for free becomes expensive. We need the support of advocates for cultural equity and access now! It costs $750 per month for YMA to provide healthy snacks and hot meals to our students during out-of-school times. We are always looking for ways to keep our children nourished and fed.
Volunteers
Report
Young Musicians of Alamance could not exist without the impressive dedication of our mighty Volunteers! Our volunteers help with many aspects of the organization, from Food Prep and serving lunch to the students, to assisting Teaching Artists in classes. YMA has room for many more volunteers. YMA Volunteer is also an easy gig to get.
