Psoriasis

Psoriasis is characterized by thickened, red areas of skin covered by white/silvery scales. Psoriasis is not contagious and cannot be spread to another person by any means. The development of psoriasis is thought to be inherited because it tends to occur in families. Aggravating factors may include injury to the skin, change of season, general health factors, infections, and certain medications.

A fungus is a small plant that can grow on the skin. Fungal infections can occur anywhere on the body and thrives in warm, dark, moist areas. The feet, groin area, and under the breasts are particularly inviting spots for such infections. Symptoms include well-defined redness in the affected area, scaling, itching, burning, and sometimes small blisters.

It is normal to lose some hair every day. A hair loss of 80 to 120 hairs a day is considered to be within the normal range. Accelerated loss cycles can be caused by pregnancy, illness, surgery, stress, dieting, etc. This type of hair loss will usually self-resolve over time. Moles

Shingles comes from the very same virus that causes the chicken pox. Once you have had the chicken pox the virus remains dormant in the nerve tissue beneath the skin. For any number of reasons, the virus reactivates many years later, causing shingles. Shingles are contagious and are easily passed through touch, it appears frequently among adults over the age of 60 and in those with a compromised immune system.
