29 Palms Creative Center

Founded in 2003 by Gretchen Grunt, the 29 Palms Creative Center has become a cornerstone of artistic expression and education in the Mojave Desert community. With over two decades of experience, our center offers a diverse range of art classes and workshops designed for individuals of all ages and skill levels. Our mission is rooted in the belief that creativity is an essential human trait, and we strive to nurture this spirit through hands-on learning experiences. From pottery and encaustic painting to pyrography and collage art, our programs are structured to inspire personal growth and community connection. We maintain a strong commitment to accessibility, ensuring no student is turned away due to financial constraints through our scholarship programs. Our team of experienced instructors combines technical expertise with a passion for teaching, creating an environment where experimentation and self-expression thrive.

The center's unique location in the Oasis of Mara, a sacred space for the Serrano and Chemehuevi Tribes, adds cultural depth to our artistic endeavors. We actively support local artists and contribute to the preservation of the desert landscape through partnerships with environmental organizations. Our facilities include dedicated studios for ceramics, painting, printmaking, and mixed media projects, providing students with comprehensive resources to explore their creative potential. Through summer camps, homeschool programs, and community events, we foster intergenerational learning and cultural appreciation. The 29 Palms Creative Center remains dedicated to evolving with contemporary art trends while honoring traditional techniques, ensuring our offerings remain relevant and enriching for future generations.
