Positive Psychology and Positive Neuroplasticity relate to the scientific study of the strengths that each of us inherently have, and the power of our minds. Science shows us that we can actually change our brain in ways that will promote more of the feelings we want to be experiencing, and allow us to respond more adaptively to uncomfortable situations, thoughts, and emotions.

Our brains have a complex way of reacting to severe stress, adversity, and trauma, and it stores our trauma memories in a way that causes distress when the brain is triggered to remember them. Basically, trauma memories become "frozen in time", and remain intrusive and disturbing long after the event.
E.M.D.R. for First Responders
Report
If everyone on your watch deserves to be rescued, protected, and recovered, so do you. Many first responders and care professionals feel stigmatized and uncomfortable needing support, and are concerned that their need for assistance will be evidence of weakness. After all, one of your biggest skills and strengths as a first responder is being strong for others and maintaining control when others are going through anguish.
