In the Summer of 2013, The Liberated Montessori House was established in Little Forest Hills by husband and wife team, Leslie and Sterling Whitmore. We opened our home to the community by providing care for twelve children, ages 18 months to 5 years old. Though our beginnings were humble, in 2018, we were excited to expand our reach and serve many more children, by moving to a new, larger facility in the heart of East Dallas.
The Nido is an extension of Home. It's a calm, peaceful space where infants and young toddlers are given the freedom to explore within a safe and carefully-prepared environment, surrounded by materials created for the sole purpose of drawing out and nurturing their natural curiosities. This program takes advantage of the toddler's natural drive and desire to act independently.

Our Story
Report
In 2013, We founded The Liberated Montessori House out of desperation for an ideal Montessori setting for our daughter, who was one year old at the time. Like many modern families, we were seeking natural-minded child care which would mirror our style of Attachment Parenting. We quickly realized, however, there were simply no Montessori preschools in the East Dallas area that offered care for a child under two years old.
New Location
Report
The new facility has three beautiful and spacious classrooms, each with access to our Natural Playground. Our Natural Playground is currently being created using tree stumps, logs, rocks, and four large garden beds to offer a wide range of opportunities to connect children back to nature, stimulate creativity, and encourage development.
Programs
Report
Our aim is to educate the "whole" child by closely following the teachings of Dr. Montessori, while also incorporating gentle discipline, implementing low student teacher ratios, and focusing on positive interaction with our communities and environment. The word "Nido" is derived from the Italian word meaning "nest" and conveys the warmth and security a child feels within her caregiver's arms.
The Montessori Method
Report
Dr. Montessori divided children into classrooms comprised of three year age spans based on studies that showed distinct, three-year periods of cognitive development. When in groups comprised of students in the beginning, middle, and end of each plane of development, children naturally teach, and are taught by their peers.
