A group of visionaries at St. Mark's United Methodist Church worked to create a nursery school that would provide loving care, enrichment, and guidance for children from all cultures and religious backgrounds in our community. St. Mark's School opened their doors in September of 1968. Since that time it has grown to include an infant and toddler center and five nursery school classrooms offering full or part-time programs.
We are situated on the grounds of St. Mark's Church in a quiet spot off the avenue near a lovely canyon that looks out to Mission Bay. We usually have a nice breeze off the water and a beautiful view to the west. We feel fortunate to have large classrooms, natural light, shaded areas, and gardens to work in with our children.

Nursery School
Report
We approach children as unique individuals who are curious about everything. Teachers, really, are trained providers. We listen to understand what children are asking and what they want to know. We respond by surrounding them with books, tools, and materials to discover their own answers and solve their own problems.
Toddlers Program
Report
Our part-time toddler program provides care, socialization, and education led by three teachers for twelve children ages 18 to 30 months, or developmentally ready to enter the nursery school, each weekday. Our enrichment class is offered between 9:00 a.m. and noon with enrollment choices including Mon- Fri, Tues-Thurs, or Mon-Wed-Fri.
Infant Care
Report
Our part-time infant care is planned for the care of six infants, ages 4 to 18 months, with our two loving and experienced caregivers. This program is offered from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each weekday following the traditional calendar and holiday breaks of San Diego City Schools. Following an initial introduction to our program, we build up hours gradually as your child is comfortable during a "Snuggling In" period (2 - 4 weeks).
