Twuana is our Co-Founder, Executive Director, Lead Instructor, and Equine Specialist in Mental Health & Learning. She is a Registered PATH Intl instructor with a passion for horses and individuals with special needs. She stumbled onto the concept of Therapeutic Riding while she was a 4H leader for the Sandoval StarBucks 4H Club.
She is the mother of a special needs daughter with developmental delays and Autism. Her search for Equine services for her own daughter made her realize that there are not enough providers and especially ones who truly understand the goals of a parent with special needs children. So in 2008, she got to work becoming certified, forming a non profit, and providing services for families of New Mexico.

The horses of Loving Thunder are what makes the magic happen. They are specifically selected and trained to be the best equine partner for the rider. If you have a horse you would like to donate, they must be sound, healthy, well trained, and preferably under 20 years old. Call 505-554-9493 for an interview for your horse pal.

What disabilities are served? We serve any disability. Commonly our riders have Autism, Down Syndrome, Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delay, PTSD, Anxiety disorders, Sensory Processing, and lots more. Call for more information. What is the minimum age for volunteering?- Age 14 is minimum age for independent volunteering.
